Crash and Shooting Leaves Victim Critically Injured

The incident unfolded around 11 p.m. on the 300 block of 3rd Street in Upland, Delaware County. Police were called to the scene after a vehicle had crashed into a home. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman slumped inside the vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where she is currently listed in critical condition.Through their investigation, police determined that the shooting had occurred at a nearby intersection, just steps away from the crash site. The home that was struck by the vehicle was occupied at the time, but the resident was unharmed.

Witness Accounts Provide Insight into Chaotic Scene

Nearby resident Michelle Crockett recounted the harrowing events, describing how her family was awakened by the sound of gunfire and the subsequent crash. Crockett's young son initially thought the noises were fireworks, but she knew better, having grown accustomed to distinguishing between the sounds of gunshots and pyrotechnics in the area."We got to see the cops pull the person out. The cops were amazing. They were so proficient. They worked on this person forever," Crockett said, praising the swift and professional response of the law enforcement officers.

Police Investigate Shooting, Seek Suspect and Motive

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or provided details on her condition, but have confirmed that she is a resident of Upland. Police are currently reviewing video footage of the shooting and crash, which has been turned over to the District Attorney's Office for further investigation.Upland Borough Police Corporal Carl White acknowledged the community's concerns, stating, "This is a little alarming for the community. We obtained a lot of good information and we're following up on all of our leads right now."While the police have described the incident as an isolated event and believe the victim was targeted, the lack of a clear motive and the ongoing search for a suspect have left residents on edge. Crockett expressed her hope that an arrest would be made soon, saying, "When they said it was an isolated incident, that makes you feel a little bit better. But since he's still out on the loose, it sucks."

The Upland Borough Police Department is actively investigating the shooting and has called on the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the case. Corporal White emphasized the importance of community cooperation, stating, "We're following up on all of our leads right now."As the investigation continues, the community of Upland remains on high alert, with residents hoping for a swift resolution and the apprehension of the perpetrator.
